The scholarship committee had endorsed the following as the policies and guidelines for the award of scholarships for Yayasan Tun Fuad

THE POLICIES

1. The award of scholarships is strictly based on scholastic achievement as assessed by the Board of Trustees.
2. The scholarship be open to persons of Sabah origin or permanent residents of Sabah.
3. The scholarship shall be for undergraduates or post-graduates study in Malaysia or outside of Malaysia.
4. The course of study shall be in a field which is relevant to the needs of Sabah in particular, in the field of medicine, agriculture, forestry, marine study, computer science, (and new inter-related Digital Technology), survey, architecture, engineering, dentistry, or any other courses approved by the Board of Trustees.

THE BASIS

The Candidate:

1. Must have been accepted for admission to a recognized or accredited university.
2. Possess the necessary qualifications.
3. Is of good character and has not defaulted in any agreement and is not an undischarged bankrupt.
4. Is not in receipt of any other award.
5. Agreed to be bonded to serve in the State of Sabah for a period of 5 Years.

The Board of Trustees of Yayasan Tun Fuad has identified seven key areas of specialized studies and needs that are required by the State of Sabah.

1. Medical including Dentistry, Pharmacy and General Practitioner, Traditional or Herbal medicines.
2. Marine Biology
3. Bio-diversity
4. Human Resources Development
5. Wildlife Conservation
6. Horticulture
7. Computer Science (inter-related Digital Technology fields.)
