POLICIES AND BASIS FOR THE AWARD OF SCHOLARSHIP
The following are the policies and guidelines for the award of scholarships for Yayasan Tun Fuad.
THE POLICIES
- The award of scholarships is based on scholastic and other achievements as assessed by the Board of Trustees.
- Scholarships are open to persons of Sabah origin or Malaysians who are permanent residents of Sabah.
- Some achievements which may be taken into consideration are, for example, involvement in school or college extracurricular activities, community service, awards of any kind whether in academic competitions, sports or other activities and any leadership roles played.
- Scholarships are awarded for foundation, undergraduate or post-graduate study at public universities or foreign branch universities in Malaysia as well as outside of Malaysia.
- Courses of study viewed favourably include, but are not limited to, Teaching of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), Teaching of the English language, Teaching of Special Needs Children, areas concerning the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Computer Science, Data Analysis, Nursing and any other courses approved by the Board of Trustees.
- Applications for study in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs which lead to well-recognised certification and clear paths to employment thereafter will also be considered.
- Financial need is a factor that is considered. Applicants from B40 backgrounds are encouraged to apply, providing proof of household income.
BASIS OF CONSIDERATION
The Candidate:
- Must have been accepted for admission to a recognised or accredited course, school, college or university.
- Must possess the necessary qualifications. Certified copies of certificates must be provided.
- Must be of good character and should not have defaulted on any agreement and is not an undischarged bankrupt.
- Must not have any other scholarship awards.
- Agrees to be bonded to serve in the State of Sabah if needed for a period of 3 Years upon completion of studies.
The Board of Trustees of Yayasan Tun Fuad has identified these areas of study and needs that are required by the State of Sabah, though scholarship awards are not limited ti these areas alone.
- Teaching in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), English language and Teaching of Special Needs Children.
- Areas of study related to achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Computer Science and Data Analysis.
- Nursing.
- Technical and Vocational Education and Training courses leading to well-recognised certification and employment.
- And any other courses approved by the Board of Trustees.
